Want to make a fast buck?

No this is not one of ‘those’ posts – just for here I’m afraid…

OK so how?

1. Build a time machine (ha ha the easy bit)

2. Grab a few 1 Gig SIMS

3. Head back to the 80’s and sell SIMS (I know no one could use them but this is for fun!)

In the early 80’s RAM cost £1000 / megabyte making 1 gigabyte £1,280,000.00 – nice little earner!!

Of course more sensible with  a time machine would be to make a whole load of sports bets!!

Live Writer: Server Ping Feature
One of the less obvious features available in Windows Live Writer is the ability to automatically ping (send a signal) to popular blog aggregators every time you publish something to your blog. This feature actively pings the servers of the blog aggregators you specify and to indicate when there is new material. To use this feature in Writer click on Ping Servers in the Options dialog (navigation: Tools | Options | Ping Servers). Then add the names of the servers you want to ping. Start off with: ......

F1 – It’s lost the plot!
As if it wasn’t bad enough that you can only win the drivers championship if you win most races…. The last thinking from the ‘good ideas team’ is if you spend lot’s of money on your car you will have your race shrouded in rules. If you stick to below 30 million then the rules are lifted…. Hey let’s try that in the Premier League! If you spend more than say £50 million on players or have a wage bill greater than £50 million a year then you can only play 11 players, offside rule applies to you and ......

Windows 2008 + Hypervisor on a Mac (Boot camp)
As anyone who has an Everything Apple Mac these days knows it can be dual booted between Leopard and Windows. Normally this is XP or Vista Windows. Now we have Windows 2008 and with it the lovely Hypervisor. With a powerful Mac Pro (Laptop or Tower) with lots of lovely memory it would be cool to use Windows 2008 + Hyper-V. There is a snag though…. Macs don’t have a bios they have something called EFI instead. Boot camp uses a bios emulator to get round this but here’s the rub :- if I install Windows ......

Azure Strategy
Doug Hauger, General Manager Business Strategy, recently spoke at the Thomas Weisel Partners 2009 Technology & Telecom conference. The wide ranging discussion covers an overview of the Windows Azure service and cloud technology more broadly. He gave some good answers to a number of topics: On describing Azure... "What we've done is to come out with a set of services that we believe simplify the life of the developer, and make it easier for them to build applications that scale..." On how cloud ......

The failure of Paragon Software
I few months ago I made the sad mistake of investing in Paragons software NTFS for OSX. I have a MAC book Pro that dual boots Vista and OS X. I thought this would be the solution for me to utilise the both Drive versions. Downloaded the software having paid my money and guess what it not only didn’t work but worse still forced my machine into a re-boot cycle that required a re-build. Decided to do the full re-build – including Vista partion which had also been corrupted. Then before installing any ......

More Hints and Tips for Your iPhone
You can take screen shots of the phones screen by holding the HOME button and tapping the HOLD/STANDBY button. These will be saved under PICTURES and then CAMERA ROLL. Holding the HOME button for roughly 6-10 secs will terminate a program from running iif not responding. Dialling *#06# then calling will bring up our phones IMEI number. If the '.com' button is present whilst typing, then by pressing and holding down that button, 3 more domain name extensions appear – .edu, .org & .net. Instead ......
