SharePoint, MOSS? and all the other questions
I got the latest version of PgTgm. And it looks it has solved the SSL issue that was persistent in the earlier (0.8) version. Thanks Jon.
What was interesting to note was there was an extra dll this time from Mentalis.org, so I went and checked them out, and voa, they have a really nice set of .NET classes. ~ sweet!
My friend thimal has been succesfull in writing a php script that generates gmail notifications via RSS.

Techdirt has a post on kids wish comming true. Its about a Ben Duskin who is suffering from Leukemia, and wanted to educate other kids about cancer via a video game. The game is being offered as a free download, check the post for the link.
I saw this linking on NeoWin about Fujitsu to adopt Longhorn for its mainframe technology in attempt target IBM mainframes. Now just in case I missed something, do they mean the mysterious Longhorn Server? And later on it says "It quoted Fujitsu chairman Naoyuki Akikusa as saying that it and Microsoft will use Windows Server 2003 for Intel based high performance servers using 64-bit processors in the first half of 2005." Bad Inquirer! you are going to be added to my "high probablility of being ignored" ......
I think for the gazillionth time over the pass 4+ years of using Instant Messaging, I have recieved the following message "Yahoo is shutting down August 17th. Yahoo wants to get rid of free messenger. If you delete this and don't pass it on, your name will be deleted. Alot of people have already been deleted. Right click on the group name of your buddy list and click 'send to all in this group' Each person you sent it to will count as a signature on a petition DO NOT DELETE!!!! This is Yahoo President ......
Looks like they have rolled out a new version - already.
I think they have also solved the Firefox dance bug.
Neowin on Firefox 0.9.1
I watched the Dutch MotoGP yesterday. Well I think it was a repeat since StarSports only shows a few of them live.
Yamaha was able to get 2 Podium positions with Rossi coming in 1st and Melandri in 3rd. Its amazing the impact Rossi has had on the Yamaha Team. Absolutely unbelievable.
Boy, was I totally awed when I saw this. Its the Humdinga by Gibbs Technologies. Its an amphibious 4x4 with retracting wheels and jet propulsion. Forbes has an article on it - here. Disclaimer: Images and links were working a the time of posting ......
Off of Techdirt. Yahoo Blocking Trillian Again -- This Time They Say They're Serious In the ongoing battle to keep their markets smaller, rather than as large as they can possibly be, the various instant messaging platforms still refuse to come up with a single standard to communicate across systems. Every time I complain about this issue, someone says "just use Trillian." That would be a great solution if the various IM providers didn't keep blocking Trillian. Yahoo has now announced that, not only ......
Austin Wheats has a good SharePoint Blog. Heres the link
A couple of days back I ran into an issue regarding the DevHawk Rss Syndicator and access rights on lists. Here is a link to that post. Since it was a requirement on a portal implementation effort I was occupied for the last couple of days to find a work around for this, coz it could be a serious issue depending on how you've setup security on your SharePoint sites. Fortunately Philip Colmer came to my rescue by pointing me out to this entry on Austin Wheats blog. Austin explains all the issues with ......
A friend of mine at work got an internal POC working that lets SharePoint index the files contained in a StarTeam repository. I was totally impressed when I saw it working.
Kudos Ruks
Its basically a web-front providing the content of StarTeam thus providing an content source for SharePoint to index. On this note has anyone played around with StarTeam's WebConnect?
OK, yesterday somebody on weblogs.asp.net or gwb pointed out PGtGM. Whoever it was I am really thankfull. Sorry for not remembering who it was. I saw the link yesterday opened it up in the browser and went home. So today I have no clue who linked to it, and a too lazy to go through the gazillion feeds looking to see who pointed it out. Again thank you for pointing that out. Anyways Thimal and I were musing today how we could get the GMail Notification into the Trillain mail notification Window. Basically ......

Origamisite. I agree the creations there are quite marvelous. Still I dont agree with his 'Origami is eeevil' quote. Could be a time waster though
There is an interestnig thread on Sonu Kapoor's blog.
I say "Go Nuremberg! Go". Thanks for the link Marcie
I came across SPSRssGen today. OK so this is another one that needs to go onto the list of SharePoint syndicators. Strangely enough it was DevHawks SPSynd that led me to this tool. I was looking to overcome a small issue, where when a user is requesting a feed for a SharePoint site, and if the user does not have rights to view a list, SharePoint throws an UnAuthorizedAccessException (which as far as I know cannot be swallowed), and this spoils the entire feed. So spent an entire day fuddling over ......
Guys,
Check out Ground Control 2. This looks really good. The graphics are totally cool. I just hope the in-game graphics are the same as the trailer shows. I also hope it lives up to excitement of the original Ground Control.
There also a couple of downloadable demos available.
Last evening I caught a glimpse of my first Windows XP TV advert.
It ran on the National Geographic channel, and was something about finishing work early. <- Well actually I wish. In my case it doesn't mean finishing work early, but a case of having more work to do. But i guess thats pretty normal.
I am not sure if this behaviour can be recreated but this is the scenario I had. I had Firefox 0.8 installed (I think by way of setup), and when 0.9 came out today (relatively), I downloaded it (i.e. the selfcontained zip version - not the installer) and extracted it to my previous firefox directory. And just in case you wondering it was a "yes" to replace all files. What resulted was a behaviour that I call the 'firefox dance'. Running the new firefox exe causes it to repeatedly kill itself and ......
I just discovered I was this

I am not a big Nokia fan, so thought some of you might appreciate this link.
its a link to a PC Magazine article showing some new Nokia phones.
Cool stuff, as soon as I logged in to my Yahoo mail I was presented with a message saying my Yahoo Mail has been upgraded. How nice of them, 100MB of free email storage, and message size of 10MB - Cool but it came as no surprise since CNet already had this article. Anyways, MSN has yet to announce if they have any plans for Hotmail, just wondering if they will compete or be blown away ......
An interesting long read on how the DARPA Off Road Robotics race turned out. Here are a couple of extracts "the only team with a realistic shot at the million-dollar prize?had ended the race at mile 7.4" "Traversing less than six percent of the course may not sound like a grand result, but it should be noted that the four lead bots did get through the first section of the course, a flat looping dirt road that passed through four fence-gate openings, each only about 12 feet wide." Page 4 had an interesting ......
Off of Techdirt Looks like AOL just got fedup and decided to pay this guy off for the lawsuit he had filed against them. The interesting bit is AOL wasnt even responsible in anyway. And then there is this one about a student who is suiing a university (that is refusing to give him a degree) for accepting his money and giving his plagiarized essays passing grades. And oh wait theres this one too. With all these lawsuits happening, I am just wondering if this is becomming a new fad. hmm maybe I should ......
Heres a great example snippet on how you can join two DataTables in CSharp.

Wired has an article about the use of Bio-Diesel
Just wondering, boom - that really means more demand ya, so basic economics, would the cost of "used cooknig oil" go up after this?
OK I admit it,I am a big fan of the 'run command' (Win Key + R). In fact I probably use it much more than the Start Menu. I mean for all those programs that are so deep into start-menu, the 'run command' becomes so very convenient for day-to-day work. for instance - IIS Manager is : Win Key + R -> InetMgr in contrast to Start -> [All Program] -> Administrative Tools -> IIS Manger - Visual Studio is : Win Key + R -> devenv in contrast to Start -> All Programs -> MS Visual Studio.Net ......
